The Blog Starts Here

Okay. So, I don't have a Myspace account, I don't have a web page, I don't do Instant Messaging anymore and I don't Twitter. But I did decide to finally create a blog. Why? Because I want to put something out there about myself and what happens in my life. I want to share my interests with other people and hopefully make a few new friends this way.

So who am I? Well, I'm a 55 year old guy, who is happpily married for 34 years to this amazing, wonderful woman. She is my soul mate and I am so amazed that she has wanted to share a good portion of her life with me. I couldn't be happier in that respect.

My job? My job title is PC Configuration Technician. In other words, our company is a VAR, a "Value Added Reseller". We buy computers directly from HP or IBM or Dell, and then sell them to another company. We will also install a different operating system and applications onto the buyers' PCs so that they don't have to go to all the trouble of doing so. Before that I was a PC Technician that worked for HP and fixed PCs and printers for J.P. Morgan/Chase in the city. During that time I was stationed in the Wall Street area. I did that job for 12 years. And before that I worked for 22 years at Grumman Data Systems, before it became Northrup-Grumman. I was mainly a computer operator during that time, when computers were huge, monstrous mainframes. So for most of my adult life, I've been working with and around computers.

Intertests and hobbies? Well I have a few. Since I am such a computer geek, it's no surprise that I was always fascinated by PCs when they became available. I started with a TRS-80 back in 1976 and worked my way up to that Atari 800, Atari ST and then a long line of Intel based computers to right now. I have a machine that I built myself and customized to my liking. I love computer games and one of my favorites is World of Warcraft. I have a number of characters on it but my 2 main characters are a Level 73 Gnome Mage and a Level 73 Human Warlock. I'm still having lots of fun with WoW, but I like to switch off every once in a while and play Lord of the Rings Online. The graphics are gorgeous and it has a more relaxed feel to it.

I also play console games and over the years have collected a number of consoles to play them on. We have all three current gen consoles at home, (Wii, PS/3, Xbox 360). My son likes the action games and right now is playing Red faction - Guerilla. I like to play turn-based RPGs. Right now, I'm trying to get into Cross Edge. I'ts a pretty tough game. I just need a good block of time to get the controls down right.

Finally, one of my favorite hobbies is watching and collecting anime. For those of you that don't know, anime is Japanese animation. If you've ever seen Speed Racer, you've watched anime. I have a very large collection of over 470 DVDs. If you would like to see what I have, click here: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/Elgion For those of you that also watch anime, you're welcome to comment or ask questions. I have a large backlog of disks I haven't watched yet and I will be giving short reviews as I watch them.

So that's me in a nutshell. You'll be finding out more about me as I post. I'll be putting up more stuff later, but right now, I have some work to do around the house.

  1. I'm testing the comment section because I was told that someone wasn't able to post comments to the blog. Lets's see if this works
